Toddlers
Toddlers
Ages 18 months to 3 years old (Half-day program)
Our morning program for toddlers’ is the perfect solution for so many parents. This half -day program offers children the opportunity to engage in social interaction with others their own age. It also offers parents some time to get their errands done so that they can spend the afternoon with their children. With so much to do at Country Kids, it is a great way for your children to have fun and make new friends.
Ages 12 months to 3 years old (Full day program)
During the toddler stage, children develop rapidly and undergo many changes. To keep up with these developmental changes, the toddler program separates children by age-12 to 18 months, 18 to 24 months, and 24 months to 36 months- which provides a more comfortable, secure environment. The program’s goal is to develop and improve skills while having fun. Since each child develops in varying stages, incidental learning is the means we use to achieve our program’s goals.
Program Activities
By the age of 18 months, children have completed the transition from infant to toddler, and we ready to explore the world around them. This is a good time for children to begin learning how to get along with others. So, while this program works on overall skill development, there is a special emphasis on social interactive skills. The children spend each morning making new friends and having a good time. They are usually too busy having fun to realize that they are also learning. Playtime on the playground and in the gymnasium develops coordination, balance, provides fresh air, exercise and develops gross motor skills. Manipulative toys such as building blocks and puzzles develops cognitive skills. Arts and crafts and finger painting develops fine motor skills. We teach the children “please,” and “thank you,” and the importance of sharing. Toddlers are taught to pick up after themselves, to follow directions and to show kindness. Discipline is handled by redirections and when they get older “time-outs.” This simply means the child has time away from the activity or situation that agitated them.
Since each child develops differently, the caregiver carefully monitors progress, ready to introduce more advanced activities when the time is right. Our caregivers play many different roles; teacher, friend, or coach. But their favorite role is the playmate, and they are only too happy to roll up their sleeves and get right down on the floor with the children to prove it.
